There is an amazing sense of God’s purpose, guidance, and provision when we step onto His mission field. He holds our hands in such a fatherly way. He grants us deep and caring friendships with teammates and a bond with our sister church and the children we serve . . .
What a great idea it was to start each craft explanation by reading them something from my Bible! On the day we were going to make shields, my morning reading included Psalm 18, so I was able to say to them, “As I was reading my Bible this morning, God brought me to Psalm 18, which talks about God being a shield for those who trust in Him . . .”
As a senior citizen working with these young people, it was a challenge to keep up and keep connecting. But God did it! Each day I had the energy and ideas I needed to love these kids and apply the gospel. It was a joyful experience for me and a great opportunity for me to use gifts that should not lie dormant . . .
