Boardwalk Chapel 2019: Spring Work Teams

May 2019

Harmony Team:

by Kevin Laubach, Deacon, Calvary Community OPC, Harmony, NJ (May 2019)I saw a message in the S.T.O.R.M. Report about the need for a small group to do some projects at the Boardwalk Chapel in Wildwood, New Jersey, in May.I immediately reached out to two fellow church members and asked if they were interested in doing this. They were.I also saw this as a good opportunity to get away with my two teenage sons and get them involved in service work.We also invited another teenage boy to come along. After making plans with Rich Seither, the Chapel’s property manager, the six of us headed down to Wildwood the weekend of May 3-5, 2019.We stayed at the Chapel's "Dunn House" residence. At the Dunn House, we:

  • painted a kitchen wall
  • installed door closers
  • put together a shelving unit
  • hung a screen door

At the Chapel, we:

  • assisted Rich in painting three bedrooms
  • painted bunk beds
  • installed baseboard trim molding

We worshiped at Calvary OPC (Cape May Courthouse, NJ)) and enjoyed lunch at the church before heading home.We all thoroughly enjoyed the work and fellowship, and plan to do it again with a larger group.
