Pilgrim's Progress

One of the local leaders of the English for Kids Bible Camp in St-Georges de Beauce, Quebec, July 4-8, 2016, prepared a daily newsletter to update all those supporting and praying for the camp!  The team leading the camp included 22 volunteers from the Presbytery of New York and New England.

Day 1

Newsletter: "JOUR 1 CAMP"

Excerpt: "This year, the 6-14 year old children who attended our camp were introduced to the world of John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress. The story, written in 1678, tells the trial-filled journey of Christian on his way towards the Heavenly City. On his way he encounters the Quicksand of Discouragement, the Castle of Doubt, ferocious animals, battles, and friendships . . . "

Day 2

Newsletter: "JOUR 2 CAMP"Excerpt: "Pictured is Sharon Knotts from New Hampshire. This is her second year at the camp. All appreciate her gentleness, sensitivity and musical talents. Now retired, she taught music for 40 years from pre-school to university. Her music is a great source of joy in her life, and is especially useful in a missions setting such as our camp . . . "

Day 3

Newsletter: "JOUR 3 CAMP"Excerpt: "James is home schooled and has just finished his 6th grade studies. He is the oldest of five children. He has wanted to serve with the team of Olivia. He finds that Canada is different from the United States: for example, do you realize that here in Quebec we raise one finger, not the whole hand, in order to ask permission to speak? In this photo, he is preparing the snacks in the afternoon accompanied by Joyce . . . "

Day 4

Excerpt: "Rebecca Myers Jacques was the first Missionary Associate at the church of Pastor Ben Westerveld in Quebec City.  Now Rebecca has 3 children of her own in the camp in St Georges, where she and her husband attend.  This photo was taken early in the week.  The children are making something called 'slime' from glue . . ."

Day 5

Bonjour to all,Christian has arrived at the end of his voyage and finally attained the Celestial City during our story today!When I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear, for you are with  me: your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  (Ps 23:4)And on the other side we have arrived at the end of our camp.  We have finished the work with the children and remain in continued prayer for them and their families.We had a wonderful day at the large Park of Seven Falls with comfortable temperatures, games, and swimming with the protection and help of our God.All of us who were present at our evening together were able to see that the families came out in great numbers.  With efficient work “the kitchen team”  were able to produce a delicious dinner for all.And Pastor Paulin Bedard had the opportunity to share a small word with the family about the “straight gate” and the “narrow door.”  Pray that the eyes of many would be opened and the minds enlightened to understand the Good News of Jesus and come to eternal life.Pray for a safe return for our American brothers and sisters.May God bless the work of  our hands!Anne-Marie
