ENGLISH FOR KIDS 2018 (Quebec City)
English for Kids Bible Camps are an outreach of St-Marc's Reformed Church in Quebec city, where OP Missionary Rev. Ben Westerveld serves as Pastor. Teams of volunteers from the OPC and other reformed denominations lead each week of camp. Missionary Associate Janine Eygenraam serves as Camp Coordinator.
June 25-29:
Week 1 was led by Mrs. Marcia Brauning (New Life OPC, Montoursville, PA) and a team from:
- New Life OPC (Montoursville, PA)
- Bethel OPC (Broomfield, CO)
- Staunton OPC (Staunton, VA)
- Immanuel OPC (Upton, MA)
- Apple Valley OPC (Neenah, WI)
- New Hope OPC (Green Bay, WI)
- Franklin Square OPC (Franklin Square, NY)
- Blessings CRC (Hamilton, ON).
July 2-6:
Week 2 was led by Ms. Kayla Merkus and a team of 17 from Zion United Reformed Church (Sheffield, Ontario), and two Week 1 team members who stayed on to work with them.
June 9-13:
Week 3 was led by Ms. Amy Hao and a team of 12 from Jubilee Korean American Presbyterian Church (East Norriton, PA).
St-Georges, Quebec:
A fourth week of English for Kids camp took place at a sister church in St-Georges de Beauce, Quebec, led by Mrs. Olivia Durham and a team from the Presbytery of New York and New England.

For a fifth year in a row, New Life OPC in Montoursville, PA is sending a team to help our mission reach children in Quebec City with the Gospel. They will be joined by brothers and sisters from Bethel OPC, Broomfield, CO; Staunton OPC, Staunton, VI; Immanuel OPC, Upton, MA; Apple Valley OPC, Neenah, WI; New Hope OPC, Green Bay, WI; OPC Franklin Square, NY; Blessings CanRC, Hamilton, ON.
While some team members are new, others are returning for a 3rd or 4th year. In their words, "We love teaching your children!"
Pray for the 55 children enrolled! May they benefit from the English immersion experience. May they and their families learn about Jesus, who is "counted worthy of more glory than Moses." (Hebrews 3.3)

Wow! The second week is already underway as we welcome another 56 kids this week to our English immersion Bible camp. Our team comes to us from Zion United Reformed Church (Sheffield, Ontario), joined by two brave souls from last week's team, Ellen and Miriam. Besides learning to converse in English, the children will discover the true, living God!
The first week camp went very well, despite the rain and, yes, some unruly kids. How do you show the grace of God to sinners? The team members gave an admirable testimony by their actions and words. I was also thankful for a couple occasions to take some kids aside, to get to know them better, and to work through with them the claims of the Gospel. Please pray that the seed planted will bear the fruit of repentance unto life.
While many children come from Evangelical or nominal Catholic families, I was pleasantly surprised to see A. come to our camp. Several years ago I was in contact with her parents, of nominal Buddhist background, but then they stopped responding to my invitations. A family in the Church continued a good friendship with them. Thanks to their invitation, the parents enrolled their daughter in our camp!

Our third and final week of English for Kids is well underway. We welcome back the mission team from Jubilee Presbyterian Church in West Norriton, PA, a member congregation of the Korean American Presbyterian Church. Besides teaching English conversation with the theme of the time lab, they will explore how Jesus always was, and is and will be, and how Jesus always keeps his promises. Pray for attentive hearts.
A Muslim family sent their son to our camp for English. The father understood that we did not teach religion. While he was frustrated about the misunderstanding and upset that his son is learning that the prophet Jesus is also God, he has kept his son enrolled. Pray for open hearts to receive the Gospel. Each year we receive several children from non-Christian homes, whether Muslim, Buddhist or agnostic.
Pray for missionary associate, Janine Eygenraam, as she directs the camp. I am actually in Ontario to visit family, returning Friday for the final program. May the final Gospel presentation be a reminder that Jesus who always is, calls us to respond today!
