The Power of Prayer
It was in 2011 that the Great Tohoku Earthquake and tsunami struck off the coast of Miyagi prefecture, devastating and destroying towns and people’s lives. Edie Cummings, the wife of former OPC Missionary Cal Cummings, came to speak at my church. It was then that I knew that I had to go.
Taking Time to be Present
For a week this past summer, I, along with Sawyer Wiersma, his sister, Campbell, Leanne Doezema, and our fearless leader, William Devenney, traveled from our scattered locations in the States to Puerto Rico for my first short term mission trip (apart from my time at Boardwalk Chapel). We all went into the week unsure of what plans or what objectives we had.

Discovering Christian Family in Hungary
From a young age I loved hearing mission reports. I celebrated every time a missionary visited and presented on their work. When I heard the OPC was sending a group of missionaries to Miskolc, Hungary, I was excited to apply.
Growing Closer to the Lord and His People
This summer, my family of nine flew over the Caribbean Sea the way to Puerto Rico. It wasn’t for a cool summer vacation, or merely because we enjoy travelling as a family. The real reason was somewhat simple—for God’s glory.
To Share Our Hope
I’m no different than the people I’m evangelizing to. I’m not better than them, I’m just as sinful as everyone else. But that’s why we do it—I want people to have the same hope I have.

Nurturing the Missions Minded: CCMT 2024
This past month twenty mission-minded individuals aged eighteen to thirty seized a unique opportunity to travel to Mexico for the Cross-Cultural Missions Training (CCMT) program. This is not just sit-in a classroom and take notes kind of training. This is full-immersion and intensive study education for those with an interest in global missions, who feel they need more instruction, exercise, and confirmation before committing to the selfless commission of mission work. This program aims to strengthen the sense of calling to those interested in serving, while also serving as an initial step in their training for service in the foreign field.
