Growing Closer to the Lord and His People
This summer, my family of nine flew over the Caribbean Sea the way to Puerto Rico. It wasn’t for a cool summer vacation, or merely because we enjoy travelling as a family. The real reason was somewhat simple—for God’s glory.
To Share Our Hope
I’m no different than the people I’m evangelizing to. I’m not better than them, I’m just as sinful as everyone else. But that’s why we do it—I want people to have the same hope I have.
Good Fellowship, Good Discipleship, Great Evangelism
Emily Batten is a member of Living Hope OPC in Allentown, PA, and spent a month of her summer serving at the Boardwalk Chapel as a junior staffer.
Connecting Apologetics and Evangelism
Daniel Nannini, member of Faith OPC in Long Beach, CA, served the Boardwalk Chapel this summer as the drama coordinator. In this role, Daniel organizes other staff and volunteer groups to put on gospel-themed skits in the nightly programs.
More Confident in the Gospel
Emily Batten is a member of Living Hope OPC in Allentown, PA, and spent a month of her summer serving at the Boardwalk Chapel as a junior staffer.
Forced to Pray on the Boardwalk
On a typical night at the Boardwalk Chapel in Wildwood, New Jersey, groups of red-shirted staff along with members of my church spread out over the boardwalk offering to share the good news with anyone who will stop.
Pray for Team Japan
The OPC Japan Team 2024 is busy! Continue to pray for this group as they work and serve with our missionaries, Cal and Edie and Woody and Laurie at the Joy and Nazomi Centers.
An Evangelistic Community
Isabelle Ferguson, member of Grace OPC in Westfield, NJ and a former volunteer at the Boardwalk Chapel, has returned this year to serve as a Junior Staffer.
Team Hungary Departs!
On Tuesday, July 16, the nine-members of Team Hungary began their long journey to Amsterdam on their way to serve in Miskolc, Hungary assisting the The Reformed Presbyterian Church of Central and Eastern Europe (RPCCEE) in their annual English Camp. Please pray for traveling mercies and a productive time there.
The Boardwalk Chapel
On June 24, the Boardwalk Chapel raised the iconic garage-style door to open the 2024 season, now in its 79th year of evangelizing in Wildwood, NJ, with cheers and excitement from the summer staff and Harvest OPC, Wyoming, MI volunteers.
Puerto Rico Team One
"In spite of language, culture, geographic 'barriers' God’s people have a beautiful bond through the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. There is nothing like a missions trip to give testimony to that connection!"
Team Japan 2024
Team Japan is serving a variety of purposes, like fixing fences and earthquake-damaged walls as well as participating in an English Cafe with the OPC Japan mission.
English for Kids, Quebec 2024
The first day of English for Kids camp in partnership with The Reformed Christian Church of Beauce went very well under sunny skies. Praise the Lord! We welcomed 53 children aged 5 to 14. We pray for the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of the children who hear the Good News.
Prayer for Short-Term Missions
OPC Short-Term Missions Summer 2024 is underway! Here are some specific ways that you can pray for our teams:
Nurturing the Missions Minded: CCMT 2024
This past month twenty mission-minded individuals aged eighteen to thirty seized a unique opportunity to travel to Mexico for the Cross-Cultural Missions Training (CCMT) program. This is not just sit-in a classroom and take notes kind of training. This is full-immersion and intensive study education for those with an interest in global missions, who feel they need more instruction, exercise, and confirmation before committing to the selfless commission of mission work. This program aims to strengthen the sense of calling to those interested in serving, while also serving as an initial step in their training for service in the foreign field.
An Infectious Spirit and a Culture of Prayer
Hannah Foster, member of New Hope OPC (Frederick, MD), was, in one sense, nervous leading up to her trip to the Boardwalk Chapel.
Update from Missionary Associate Jed Homan
As the new year begins, I find it fitting to provide you with an update on my endeavors here in Uganda. Having returned at the beginning of November, I commenced a 1-year term as a missionary associate with the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
Short Term Missions is Buzzing!
We’ve already received fourteen inquiries about short-term missions’ opportunities this summer. It may really sound strange to think about summer plans in January. But for mission fields, this is the time they begin to gear up with plans and preparations. This is also a great time for you, their potential summer helpers, to be thinking about your seasonal plans.
